Easily one of the most popular American artists of the 20th Century, Norman Rockwell personified just about every human situation one could imagine, with a perspective that everyone could understand.  From the humorous to the heartbreaking, the victorious to the vanquished, the elegantly simple to the overwhelmingly intricate - all of which spoke a colorful, artistic word of American life.

He included the young and old, animals, planes, trains and automobiles... if it had a place in our culture, surely he painted it - and in a way no one else could.

Rockwell was born in 1894 in New York City.  He attended Chase Art School at the age of 14, went on the the National Academy of Design and finally moved on to the Art Students League.  At 19, he became the art editor for Boys' Life, and at 21 submitted his first successful cover illustration for The Saturday Evening Post.  He produced eight cover illustrations for the magazine within the first year. His artwork was featured on the cover of several other magazines such as The Country Gentleman and Leslie's Weekly, but it was The Saturday Evening Post issues that he was best known for - and rightfully so - with some 300 plus covers bearing his talent throughout his career.

Although his cover illustrations are what made Rockwell famous, he also was commissioned to do numerous illustrations for advertisements and several portraits, primarily celebrities, politicians and dignitaries.  However, if one could draw a single-most thought that was inspiration for Rockwell, it would easily be his love of country and the citizens within.

Rockwell died in 1978 at the age of 84, but we're sure his works will continue to charm, inspire and cause a chuckle for many, many years to come.

In the following pages, we will highlight nearly every Norman Rockwell illustration that we have come across.  Clicking the thumbnails will open a new window with a larger image.  We hope you enjoy the gallery, and if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to drop us a line.
